The TLTC is always looking for Tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and Student Assistants.

SPRING 2024: Positions are currently all filled

FALL 2024:

Applications will be available on Handshake in March.

Requirements for all Positions: 

  • Be a currently enrolled CSUDH student taking at least 6-units
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Have the ability to work with a diverse group of students
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Be accountable and reliable
  • Possess good time management skills
  • Commit to a set schedule for the entire semester
  • Be a team player
  • Have at least 10-15 hours per week of availability
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA (Tutors/SI Leaders)

Tutor/SI Leader

Tutors and SI Leaders work with students in group study sessions that cover various subjects, content, and study strategies. 

  • Tutors generally work in center and support students in group drop-in sessions and weekly study sessions as students voluntary come in for support. 
  • SI Leaders generally work with and attend selected courses that have been historically difficult. They then prepare out of class weekly study sessions in addition to providing some in center tutoring.  

Applicants must provide:

  • A Resume
  • Transcripts that reflect the subjects you prefer to support
  • A letter of interest that shares
    • Why you are interested in supporting specific courses
    • Your hours of availability.

 General Requirements:

  • Be a current CSUDH student taking at least 6 units 
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Have earned an A or B letter grade in the courses you prefer to support
  • Be able to commit to a set 10-20 hour per week schedule for the entire semester
  • Be available and attend ALL trainings and meetings
  • Have availability that meets center needs and operational hours (Some positions require attending weekly courses and meetings)
  • Be able to tutor courses, subjects, and study skills in high demand

Courses in high demand:

    • Chemistry 108-112 & Organic Chemistry
    • Math: Statistics, Calculus, and higher
    • Statistics in the major: OMG 321, OMG 322, PSY 250
    • Accounting
    • Finance 360
    • Philosophy 120
    • Physics
